So I guess I drank a bit too much on Saturday.... Sunday I wake up to an email saying, “Thank you for your order...” blah blah
Hung over, roll over.... whatever
Then this shows up on my doorstep 5 days later....
Dude.... I don’t even play drums. I have never felt so white in my life.... I got no rhythm...
But holy shit this is fun!
I got back into drumming after an eight year hiatus. I had never played an electronic kit and this set exceeded my expectations. Not only is it compact enough to fit in limited space, but the quality and versatility are well beyond the cost.
It came complete with throne sticks and headset. No need to buy any extras unless you want brushes or amp or an additional crash cymbal ( which is easily connected via extra port on main control board.)
I absolutely love it and recommend for the beginner to advanced player.
Easy to set up, nice and quiet for the neighbours.
The best $400 I ever spent definitely worth it
The drums are first class sound and rebound. Everything from ordering to delivery was excellent. Thanks again. Larry
Fun drums. Very well packaged for convenient setup.
Excellent beginner kit! The brain is simple to use and is loaded with good sounds. The feel of the mesh heads are great and are of excellent quality. The frame is robust and will hold the weight of playing and traveling well.
This is a complete kit right out of the box. Sticks and headphones are included along with all the hardware you need. They even include the tools you need for the bass drum stand.
If you’re a private teacher, this would be great for your studio. Easy connectivity to your computer if you want to lay down tracks as well.
Still trying to put the kick/bass drum mechanism together
Home schooled because of the pandemic.....his older brothers play the acoustic guitar and bass respectively ; Mom figured we might as well form a band! .... The drum set we bought totally fit the bill! Thankyou and rock on!
Getting it set up was relatively easy. After assembling the frame, making some adjustments and plugging stuff in it just worked without issues up to now (1 month later).
The sounds of the drums are good.. enough. Of course not professional sounding, but you can get some good beats out of a couple of the 16 presets.
The kick drum pedal is ok, although it is fully metal, which was a surprise to me. About the bass drum itself, I’m sure there’s a way to adjust the bounciness, but the way the bass drum comes as default is too bouncy, and causes the beater to bounce and hit twice.
I do love that all the drum heads are mesh, it makes for a nice double-stroke roll on the snare.
The cymbals I think could be quieter as you hit them, possibly with softly rubber? Besides the exterior thud noise of the cymbals, they’re good. The sensitivity for the bell and rim sections could be a bit better, a couple times I mean to hit the rim but it comes out as a bell sound.
Hi-hat, and hi-hat control is great! It sounds and feels good, with a more expressive open-hat then the Alesis Nitro Mesh.
All-in-all a good starter drum set, great job on making a decent drumset relatively affordable.
Bass drum mesh is already broken after less than 3 hours of use....
It took 2 weeks to ship and 1 week to arrive after it shipped, but I have gone more than 2 decades without a drum set so I am patient. Used to play drums in a band for years but the band broke up and I lost interest and my access to a set. I have truly missed playing drums but live in an urban area with little practice space and thin walls to my neighbor's apartment. Last time I looked at decent quality electric drums, they were $1000 or more. Saw these on a Youtube video and was AMAZED at the features at such a low price. When I learned you could grab the cymbals and mute them, I was sold. Just received them and it took a couple hours to set up (at a slow old man pace). I plugged them in and gave them a whirl and all I can say is WOW. This is THE BEST set you can buy for this price. I have fiddled with others in the pawn shop for years (Roland, Yamaha, etc.), but for the price and features you get, these are a real winner. Thanks so much, Donner, you have made this grouchy old man very, very happy. Anybody who is craving an e-drum set and is 'on the fence', JUMP AT THIS! You won't regret it.
Perfect drum for practicing and playing. I loved it
un bon produit mais mes 2 bagette de drum on cassé la première semaine mais un super bon drum
Purchased this for the drummer in my worship team at church. Helped him set it up, and it was easy to do. Instructions were clear and easy to follow. Tools needed are even provided, which is pretty cool. I played a bit on it, just to make sure it worked, and it sounded pretty good through headphones.
My only complaint, is that I didn't sign up for the Donner rewards program until after I purchased it, and customer service would not apply the points I would have earned from the purchase to my account. I mean, it was literally hours after I purchased it that I noticed the rewards program.
Just falling in love with drums again. I can blast it with an amp or put my heads phones on trynewthink and not annoy the household ...2 thumbs up....
It's simply the greatest Drumset of this price range that I've played with.
This is a pretty cool drum set! Really nice that it comes with a full kit, drum throne and some headphones.
The assembly process was okay - it did come with all the tools needed which is a plus; most of the parts were marked and easy to identify. I had an issue with the support bar for the kick drum where it wouldn’t fit quite right and had to use a rubber mallet to bend metal back a hare to make the screw fit. Not a huge deal, but I did spend a bunch of time trying to figure out if I did it wrong or not. I’m sure it was just on my set.
Sound quality seems pretty good through headphones - I don’t have a speaker to play through so can only comment on headphone use. You can make all kinds of fine adjustments on volume/tone for each drum, and save presets which is cool. I am a novice so I don’t necessarily need all that functionality.
Quality seems pretty good for the most part! Seems like it will hold up well if taken care of. I was impressed by materials used.
I’d definitely recommend this.
Great set! Quality sound, easy to assemble, and made of high quality material. Has a much more comfortable bass drum, snare and hi-hat than other electronic drum sets I've seen and tested out. A drummer who is used to a traditional set may have to make slight adjustments with their respective techniques, but that's the same for all electronic sets. I like the drum covers better than some other sets because they aren't smooth as glass like cheaper ones. Instead they have a different consistency for better sound. I easily hooked it into a bass amp and it sounded great. Also sounds great with a good pair of headphones. I purchased the two year warranty, but the way this set is built, I doubt I'll even need one. Would highly recommend, and I am extremely happy with it.
J'ai 78 ans, et le gout de l'aventure de jouer de la batterie, me hante depuis quelques années.......j'ai une leçon par semaine ....et je deviens un batteur meilleur à tous les jours............
Excellent drum kit. Perfect for beginners and experienced drummers looking for a an electronic set. Good sounds overall. 16 drum kits available but some sound very similar. Would have liked a better variety but ok. Mesh heads are great and give a nicer feel vs rubber drum heads. Has a few programmed songs to play along with. Would have been nice to remove the drum sounds while playing along though. Noticed the closed high hat sound very quiet. Perhaps this can be adjusted? Very good responsively overall. Needed to purchase an external speaker. Would recommend powerwerks mini PA. Headphones work great. Kick drum very loose and will move all over the place but this can be secured. Drum frame is rounded metal pipes and feels very secure but the joints are plastic but appears solid so far. Would recommend as an entry level kit. Easy to assemble. Took me about an hour by myself. So able to play right away. Sound quality is good. If you are looking for a professional sounding kit with professional sound options you will need to purchase something more pricey. Overall, it’s a pretty solid kit.
As a musician (guitarist) I understand a good quality instrument is key when you are trying to learn. So I bought my daughter a good acoustic drumset. While she loves it, we cant just have it out due to space and of course the volume. This has deterred her away from playing when she likes to because it takes to long to set up. I took her to a music store and she absolutely loved the electric drum set she saw. So I hopped on Amazon and having used Donner guitar equipment, I decided to grab this set. It took me all of 30 minutes to build and it has the ability to fold somewhat so setting up is a breeze if you need to stow it away in a corner. It comes with 5 drums and 3 cymbals but you can expand with a second crash if you wanted to.
I am not a drummer but I play with drummers and understand what a drum is supposed to sound like. This does not sound like an acoustic in the sense that when you hit it, you only hear a tap. Once you hook up to an amp or headphones is when it truly shines. It responds to light and heavy strikes and everything in between. I have no other reference to compare to but it sounds good to me. Some sounds sound raw, some EQed. There is a sound for every music you would like to play. I have been practicing along to music by plugging into the audio input.
I did find that I wanted some of the strike components to sound louder on some sets but then I found out you can adjust the volume individually! This was a great feature. There is a TON of sounds in here. You can adjust timber, kits, use a metronome and put it into demo mode if you want to hear a backing track.
The drums react to force and area where they are hit. I found it cool that you can hit a cymbal and grab it to mute it. Again, not a drummer but I didn't feel like anything was lacking. Except a seat maybe. Everything I imagined it to do, it did well. More than anything I am happy that my daughter can play without annoying the neighbors. I find myself using this a lot because its so quiet with headphones on. I have no experience with electric drums so I cant say at what level these are at in comparison to whats available in this price range I can say that I am happy to have this as a replacement. Sound is clear and crisp with no artifacting, Solidly built with metal and good plastic, metal foot pedals. Even cost the same as my daughters acoustic drum set. I have even recommended to my drummer who cant practice at home since he lives in small apartment.
I've always wanted an electronic drum kit, but was always put off by how much they cost. The kits I've played and liked are $1500 to $2,000, and the kits I've played below $500 usually aren't very great. This drum kit, however, is a fantastic exception. I've found this kit to be a very high-quality and realistic sounding set for an absolute bargain price.
Shipping was a very fast 2 days. When the set arrived I thought it would be difficult to put together, but even with my 16-month-old daughter "helping" me, I was still able to put the kit together in less than an hour. I didn't even need the online instruction video; the manual was very straightforward and easy to follow.
The first thing I noticed when I plugged in the drum set is that there are a lot of useful options as far as outputs. There is a MIDI output that would be useful for hooking this to your computer, as well as a standard 1/4" instrument cable output and 1/8" headphone output. I like having these options, because I can plug the drum set into a regular amplifier or my radio that accepts aux cable inputs. There's also an audio in and a spot for an additional crash.
I fired up the drum kit, and immediately I was impressed with the sound quality. I have had acoustic drum sets before, and this sounds very authentic and feels very natural. Given the choice between the two, I would actually prefer the electric drum kit over my acoustic, just because of the versatility and ability to control volume (especially with the wife and baby!).
There are 15 main drum kits (see video), but there are 255 timbres you can choose from. This is one of the great strengths of this set in my opinion. You can truly play anything from hip-hop to rock, from funk to jazz, from military to 70s type stuff. It's also nice that you can adjust the sensitivity of pretty much every parameter; it's a great feature that you can fine-tune everything to your specific playing tastes. That you can also tweak the reverb and EQ is just icing on the cake. Not only that, but you can save your reverb and EQ settings permanently.
Feel is an important consideration that made me hesitant to buy such an inexpensive kit. Drummers know what I'm talking about when I say that it's hard to get that real drum kit feel on an electric sometimes. The super expensive kits I've played have that feel, but I was skeptical at this price point that it would have that feel I was looking for. Thankfully I am super happy with how this kit performs. The snare and toms have that nice springiness, and the cymbals all have good weight and balance. I was surprised how easily I felt at home on an electric set after having only had an acoustic set.
There are many nice little features that bear discussion. There are pre-loaded demo songs that are fun to jam to. You can control the tempo, and there are 30 different songs. There is also a metronome, which as a drummer, is obviously very important. These may seem like little things, but it's very convenient having them.
Build quality is another one of the strong-suits of this set. The kit feels very durable, and able to withstand a lot of abuse. I play very loud and hard, and I don't feel like I have to hold back or be gentle with this kit. Also, the kick feels very solid and real, which is something you don't always get with an electric kit.
As far as performance, I am truly amazed at how well this plays and sounds for such an inexpensive kit. The sound sampling is out of this world, and I would not hesitate to use this for recording. There are many nice little features, like how you can hit the crash and then grab it to silence it, or how you can hit the rim of the snare and get that nice "pop." Perhaps most importantly, there is no lag whatsoever, and there are no glitches or weird noises.
Lastly, this set is a breeze to fold up and store, which is essential when your wife won't let you keep it in the living room.
Folks, we are living in the Golden age of high-quality inexpensive instruments. Never before in my life have I seen a time were you can get such a fantastic electric drum kit for 350 bucks shipped to your door. This kit rivals $2,000 kits I have played at big-box guitar stores. The feel of this set is superb, to the point that I honestly prefer it over an acoustic set. The audio quality is incredible, and not just hype or marketing. I would buy another one of these in a heartbeat, and would highly recommend this to any drummer beginner or experienced.
Bought this set for my 15 year old, impressed with the quality! It took some effort putting together but overall super happy with it! We have lots of mid-level instruments and this set complements our collection! Great for him to have the option to use headphones if he's playing later at night. You may want to purchase the appropriate amplifier to get louder sound when not using headphones. I had to contact customer service before the order was shipped and they responded promptly and were very helpful!
I've found that this is an excellent starter kit with a realistic bouncethe module could be a little more diversified and it lacks expandability but is a great kits for the resonable price
The Donner e kit is excellent sound is great I love my new set of drums
